Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association to hold first of six NH3 safety workshops next week

Beginning Jan. 09, 2024 in Topeka, Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association (KARA) is hosting the first of its six annual NH3 safety workshops. The association encourages anyone who is a frequent user or distributor of anhydrous ammonia, as well as first responders, to attend and receive up-to-date training on safe practices concerning NH3.

“As an association, we always look to create training programs emphasizing safety for our membership and the public in general,” KARA president and CEO Ron Seeber said. “Although NH3 is a common input, it still poses hazards if it’s handled improperly. We hope our members, and anyone interested in learning or refreshing their knowledge on this valuable asset to production agriculture are able to attend one of our trainings this month.”

Each of the six programs includes a combination of demonstrations and presentations that will cover the characteristics of anhydrous ammonia, facility safety, emergency response and product handling. Specific presentations from industry experts include: NH3 properties and safety, DOT and Hazmat, equipment, state of Kansas requirements, rules of the road and much more. Members of KARA are able to attend each training for $85.00 per person, while the non-member rate is $110.00 per registrant.
