14 Jul EPA comment period on Risk Management Program Rule extended 16 days to July 31
United States Environmental Protection Agency has extended the comment period for its proposed changes to the Risk Management Program Rule by 16 calendar days from July 15, 2021 to July 31, 2021.
Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association (KARA) members now have until July 31, 2021 to submit comments to EPA at http://www.regulations.gov (Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OLEM-2021-0312).
This week KARA submitted comments which are included in this email via the button below for member use in drafting their own responses.
Based on comments it receives, EPA may propose additional changes for covered facilities (such as ag retail) similar to the changes previously considered during the Obama Administration, such as third-party audits, requirements to review safer alternative technologies/chemicals, and several other proposals that could significantly increase operating costs on our industry.
Background
EPA is reviewing its Risk Management Program (RMP) rule in accordance with Executive Order 13990: Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science To Tackle the Climate Crisis (EO 13990). EPA is accepting written comments on this review of the RMP regulation revisions completed since 2017 (including the 2017 Final Amendments to the RMP Rule and 2019 Final RMP Reconsideration Rule).
