27 Oct CropLife America requests your help contacting the Kansas congressional delegation to fully fund EPA
Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association (KARA) and its national affiliate organization, CropLife America are requesting your assistance in contacting the Kansas congressional delegation to obtain full FY2023 funding for EPA.
In order to do its job and curb the delay of new pesticide product registrations, the EPA needs adequate funding. Recently, falling just below CropLife America’s initial request for $163 million in PRIA funding, the House-passed H.R. 8294 which included $158 million in funding under the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act.
This is a 22 percent increase over the current fiscal year. The Interior Appropriations bill introduced in the Senate only includes $140 million for these activities. While CropLife America is encouraged with increases in both chambers, your outreach to Capitol Hill is paramount to support the House-passed $158 million to ensure EPA can get new, innovative pesticide technologies to market.
Historically, industry and EPA haven’t always agreed, however, a better funded agency is more likely to provide consumers, farmers and public health officials the tools they need to keep our families safe, grow our food, and protect our communities.
That is why CropLife America asks you to lend your voice to support Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations funding for EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs, the office responsible for registering and reviewing pesticide products.
